RUNNING INJURIES

Running injuries can interrupt training, competition and everyday activity. At FITE Health Physiotherapy in Chester-le-Street, we assess running-related pain and build a plan around your training history, symptoms and goals.

We look at recent changes in mileage, pace, terrain and recovery alongside movement and strength. Rehabilitation combines appropriate load management, progressive strengthening and a graded return to running.

Whether you are starting out or preparing for an event, we help you work towards a sustainable return. Early morning and evening appointments are available.

Runner training on steps outdoors

We review your symptoms, previous injuries, training load, footwear and recent changes in running.

Assessment may include lower limb strength, mobility, balance and functional tasks. Running or sport-specific assessment is included where relevant.

We agree a practical plan for managing training, rebuilding capacity and monitoring your response as you return to running.

Running Problems We Assess

Knee Pain

Pain around the kneecap or outer knee can affect mileage, hills and stairs. Assessment guides a targeted strength and loading programme.

Achilles and Calf Symptoms

We assess tendon or muscle symptoms and rebuild capacity progressively.

Foot and Heel Pain

Your plan considers walking and running demands alongside strength and symptom response.

Muscle Injuries

Rehabilitation progresses from comfortable movement to strengthening and running drills.

Returning to Running

A staged plan helps you rebuild distance, pace and confidence according to your recovery.

Training and Recovery

Running symptoms may be associated with sudden changes in mileage, speed, terrain or recovery. We help you adjust training and build strength around your goals.

Book an assessment for recurring pain, symptoms that affect your running or uncertainty about returning after injury.

Seek prompt medical advice for severe pain, inability to bear weight, major swelling or a suspected fracture. Localised bone pain or pain that persists at rest needs assessment before continuing training.

Our Treatment Approach

ASSESS

Every plan starts with a full assessment of your symptoms, movement, strength, and history. We take the time to properly understand your pain and your goals, so we can identify the real cause, not just treat the symptoms.

TREAT

We find the cause of your symptoms and provide targeted treatment to ease pain and improve mobility. It includes hands-on techniques like joint mobilisation, soft tissue work, massage and muscle release, used alongside exercise rather than instead of it.

EDUCATE

We help you understand your condition, so you have the knowledge to manage it yourself.

REBUILD

Your programme may include calf, quadriceps, hamstring and hip strengthening, balance, running drills and progressive loading. Return to running is tailored to your symptoms, capacity and training goals.

PREVENT

We work on your movement, strength, and habits to lower the risk of it happening again.
